Aerith’s Theme (EPC)

The most requested song to cover: here’s Aerith’s Theme!

I had trouble making a decision which direction to go to with her theme, as it is pretty damn emotional already. My goal was to show the conflict between the purity of Aerith and the underlying tragedy knowing what will enfold.

The way I chose was to empathize Aerith’s entire journey: from the church with the flowers, to adventuring with the heroes, to the final countdown with Sephiroth and reuniting with Zack. This explains the slightly darker tone at the beginning of the song, as the story starts happy and hopeful and then takes a dive deep into the abyss. Towards the end, she is reunited with her lost lover and returned to the Lifestream, where she can find peace.

Enjoy! I’m happy the way it turned out and I think this is my new personal favorite cover. To be fair, even I cried at making it 😀
